Printer
Printer is an automatic writing piece about self expression and releasing emotion through writing. The work itself is 43ft long and is made from individual panels that have been stitched together. The writing was made by individually stamping the letters to make the words, his was difficult because I had to slow my thinking down so I didn’t think ahead of the words I was in the middle of writing.
The piece was set up at Test Space and at the end I turned it into a live performance by stamping the words directly as the audience was walking past. This was an interesting experience as I had some people talking to me in the middle of the performance, so I was stopping to talk to them and then I had others who would talk to me about the writing afterwards. The fabric was set up going around a pillar, onto the ceiling, back to the floor and down the stairs back to the entrance, so my work was the first thing people saw when they walked into the space.
